Starbucks, one of the world's leading representatives of coffee culture, has announced the winners of the third edition of its "Cup Design Call" competition, which focuses on artists and designers and is conducted with the consultancy of Studio Mercado. The competition, which attracts increasing interest from designers all over Türkiye each year, received over 2.600 applications. Talented artists, under the main theme of "Your Starbucks," brought their own Starbucks moments to Starbucks' iconic white cups in the subcategories of "Local Motifs," "Doodle Hand-Drawn x edding" (in collaboration with edding), and "2D & 3D Digital Animation." Aleyna Taşkıran won first prize in the overall category of the 2026 Starbucks® Cup Design Call competition, while Ayça Tacal won first prize in the "local motifs" category, Efecan Sezer in the "Doodle hand-drawn x edding" category, and Arife Şeyma Gök Çaylı in the "2D & 3D Digital Animation" category.
Starbucks has announced the winners of its “Cup Design” project, launched to support local artists. In this year's competition, the third of its kind, held under the theme “Your Starbucks” and with the consultancy of Studio Mercado, talented artists from all over Türkiye transformed Starbucks' iconic white cups with their own personal Starbucks memories.
With the main theme of "Your Starbucks," and subcategories including "local motifs," "hand-drawn doodle x edding," and "2D & 3D digital animation," the competition, which is reaching a wider audience every year, saw over 2.600 designs meticulously evaluated by the jury members.
As a result of the evaluation, Aleyna Taşkıran's design titled "Chaos" was selected as the winner in the general category. In her design, Taşkıran tells a story about the short but intimate moment of motivation created by a sip of coffee amidst the hectic pace of an office environment.
Ayça Tacal, the winner of the "Local Motifs" category, blends Anatolia's deep-rooted cultural heritage with Starbucks' modern identity in her design titled "40 Years of Memories." Tacal depicts the coffee ritual in Anatolian culture, known as "40 Years of Memories."
In the "Doodle hand-drawn x edding" category, the winner, Efecan Sezer, reflected the feeling of an inner journey through the small break that coffee offers amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life with his design titled "Little Coffee Town".
Arife Şeyma Gök Çaylı, the winner of the "2D & 3D digital animation" category, visualizes the journey of a coffee bean from nature to the cup, the effort, time, and transformation involved in her animation titled "Portrait of the Coffee Bean," through a creative narrative.
The winners of the 2026 Starbucks® Cup Design Call will receive their awards at a ceremony in September 2026.
Prominent figures from the fields of design and academia came together on the jury.
The jury for the 2026 Starbucks® Cup Design Call, which brought together prominent figures from the worlds of academia, illustration, advertising, and digital art, included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşem G. Başar, Head of the Department of Industrial Product Design at Yeditepe University Faculty of Architecture; Digital Artist Hakan Yılmaz; Advertiser and Art Director Özge Güven; Illustrator Sedat Girgin; Mercado Founding Partner Tuna Mert Topuz; and Creative Director Zeynep Tonguç.
Winning Designs in Starbucks Stores
The winners of the Main Category and the Local Motifs Category will receive a tablet and the opportunity to have their design printed on cups and displayed in select stores, while the winner of the Hand-Drawn Category will receive a tablet, the opportunity to have their design printed on cups and displayed in select stores, and an edding gift set. The winner of the 2D & 3D Digital Animation Category will receive a tablet and the opportunity to have their design displayed on a giant Starbucks cup.
