Following recent reports on social media and in some press outlets regarding a product belonging to the company, Tahsildaroğlu issued an official statement on the matter.
How Did the Process Work?
According to the statement, the process began with a consumer complaint received by the Alo 174 Food Hotline. Following the complaint, a sample of product number 290625 was taken from the shelf of the chain supermarket and analyzed by the Kocaeli Food Control Laboratory Directorate. The analysis revealed that the product was unsuitable in terms of L. monocytogenes, and the company was notified accordingly.
Following the notification, an official inspection was carried out at the production facility, and the process of withdrawing the products from the market as a precautionary measure was initiated.
Internal Review: No Findings in Other Products
In an internal review initiated by the company, environmental samples were taken from 37 different points in the production facility. Samples were also collected from witness end products and products with consecutive batch numbers and tested in accredited laboratories. L. monocytogenes was not found in any of these analyses.
Tahsildaroğlu stated that L. monocytogenes has not been detected in the studies conducted so far within the scope of the Listeria Environmental Monitoring Program, which the company regularly carries out. The company emphasized that the product in question is produced and packaged on a separate production line at the facility, and that no irregularities were found in other products during the inspections.
Standards and Audits
The statement said that the production facilities operate in accordance with national legislation as well as international food safety standards recognized by GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative), and are regularly inspected by authorized institutions and independent international certification bodies.
The company urged people not to believe unfounded claims circulating on social media and in some media outlets that go beyond the scope of the incident and target other products and the brand, while also noting that it is pursuing its legal rights regarding false claims.
Tahsildaroğlu concluded his statement by saying that consumer health and food safety are the company's top priorities, and that production will continue in accordance with scientific principles, national legislation, and international standards.
