Edenred, a global leader in employee benefits, commitment, and mobility solutions, contributed to the G7 Summit in Evian, France, as one of its official sponsors. Chosen by French authorities, Edenred provided digital meal vouchers to approximately 2.300 participants, including national and international press representatives and delegation representatives from various countries covering the summit.
Inspired by Edenred ’s Ticket Restaurant® solution and developed specifically for the G7 Summit, digital meal cards enabled attendees to easily and securely enjoy dining services at participating restaurants in the region. This ensured that spending during the summit was channeled back into the local economy, while regional restaurants directly benefited from the event's economic impact.
The solution, a continuation of the system used at the 2019 G7 Summit, offered high security, transaction tracking, and ease of use by operating on Edenred's global technology infrastructure. This infrastructure, used by more than 60 million users worldwide, provided a seamless experience for participants while also enabling transparent and efficient management of expenses.
The digital card application, offering participants a wide range of choices, also aligned with France's G7 Presidency's sustainability goals and commitments under the ISO 20121 standards. The solution also contributed to reducing food waste by encouraging consumption based on need. Reflecting Edenred's approach of supporting local businesses and facilitating access to quality food, this application once again demonstrated the social and economic value that digital meal cards can create in international organizations.
Solidarity in the fight against hunger has grown exponentially.
Edenred also highlighted the United Nations World Food Programme's (WFP) ShareTheMeal initiative at the summit. As part of this collaboration to combat hunger, awareness was raised about how a meal can be provided with a donation of just 37 TL (0,70 Euro), and a special event was held in collaboration with local restaurants and the World Food Programme. The sponsorship partnership established between Edenred and the French Presidency once again demonstrated the importance of innovative solutions that focus on social benefit and sustainability in large-scale international events.
“Edenred’s expertise has created value on an international scale.”
Bertrand Dumazy, Chairman and CEO of Edenred , commented on the matter: “At Edenred, we are very proud to have supported the second G7 Summit held in France, following the one in Biarritz in 2019. This collaboration demonstrates our capacity to offer our technological expertise and extensive restaurant network to international organizations, while also reflecting our mission to create value for all stakeholders. Thanks to the solution we provided in Evian, participants experienced the region's rich gastronomic culture, while local restaurants and the regional economy also reaped tangible benefits.”
