The Michelin Guide is expanding to cover all of Türkiye.
The MICHELIN Guide is expanding across Turkey for the first time this year, opening a new chapter in its nationwide presence. This expansion extends from the bustling streets of major cities to charming towns...
Following the introduction of Istanbul in the 2023 Michelin Guide, the geographical scope of the Guide gradually expanded with the addition of Izmir, Mugla, and Cappadocia. This year, with this new expansion covering all of Türkiye, the selection will holistically represent Türkiye's rich gastronomic heritage, and the country's first national selection will be announced by the end of 2026.
The Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), which plays a significant role in promoting Türkiye, continues to support international marketing campaigns as a Destination Partner of the MICHELIN Guide and contribute to the effective promotion of the country through gastronomy-based storytelling. On the other hand, the inspection and selection processes of Michelin inspectors continue to be conducted entirely independently, as always, without being influenced by any collaborations carried out in Türkiye or anywhere else in the world, and all processes are carried out solely by the MICHELIN Guide according to its own methods.
Operating in accordance with the principles of anonymity and complete independence, the MICHELIN Guide inspectors create the Turkish national selection in a phased manner, based solely on the quality offered by the kitchens. The evaluation process is based on five universal criteria: product quality, mastery of cooking techniques, harmony of flavors, the reflection of the chef's personality in the kitchen, and consistency over time.
Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide, stated: “We are delighted that the MICHELIN Guide has expanded to cover all of Türkiye. Turkish cuisine stands out for its diversity, deep-rooted traditions, and remarkable creativity. Chefs across the country continue to build a vibrant and contemporary food and beverage scene while reinterpreting regional heritage.”
The MICHELIN Guide shares a selection of restaurants as well as a special list of carefully curated hotels located in all regions of Türkiye and around the world. Introduced in 2024, the MICHELIN Keys recognize the most outstanding establishments in the Guide's hotel selection. Similar to the MICHELIN Stars awarded for restaurants, the MICHELIN Key highlights hotels that stand out for their design, architecture, service, and character. All hotels featured in the Guide can be booked directly through the MICHELIN Guide's website and mobile application.
