Demand for Pide Flour Sees Record Increase of 364%

Eksun Gıda shared striking data regarding flour consumption habits during Ramadan. According to the data, while overall flour demand increased by 25% during Ramadan, demand for pita bread flour showed a 364% increase compared to the monthly average of other months. This figure accounted for 65% of the total pita bread flour demand sold throughout the previous year. The highest demand for flour came from Istanbul, Ankara, Kocaeli, Bursa, and Tekirdağ.

Accordingly, demand for flour used for pita bread increased by 364% compared to the monthly average of other months, while overall flour demand saw a 25% increase. Sales during Ramadan accounted for 65% of the total demand for pita bread flour throughout the past year. During Ramadan, the month of abundance and sharing, demand for pita bread flour reached remarkable levels, prompting the company to replan its production and logistics operations accordingly and meet all demands completely.

Stating that pide is an indispensable part of iftar meals Hasan Abdullah Özkan, President and CEO of Eksun Food Group said:

“We experienced a record increase in demand for pita bread flour this year. Thanks to our strong production infrastructure and extensive distribution network, we successfully managed all incoming orders. As a company, we made a special strategic plan in advance to meet the intense demand that arises during Ramadan. We completed our preparations on the production lines in our factories in Konya and Tekirdağ, despite the capacity increase. Then we organized our factory work schedules accordingly. As in every Ramadan, we are happy to be present on iftar and sahur tables with our Eksun Gıda and Sinangil brands this year as well.”

The highest demand came from large cities.

According to company data, the provinces with the highest demand for pita bread flour during Ramadan have also been identified. The top five provinces are Istanbul, Ankara, Kocaeli, Bursa, and Tekirdağ. These cities, among Türkiye's largest metropolises, stand out not only for their populations but also for their strong baking cultures.
