A New Era in the Food and Beverage Industry: Mandatory Service and Table Fees Are Being Lifted

Consumers Will Now Only Pay for Their Order

Under the current system, businesses could charge additional fees, such as a service charge, provided they were clearly stated on the menu. This practice will end with the new regulation. Customers will only pay for the food and drinks they order; any additional fees can only be given in the form of voluntary tips.

Menus are banned from using the phrase "additional charge"

The regulation will also ban menus from including "service fee," "table fee," or similar terms. This step will both increase price transparency and foster healthy competition among businesses.

Goal: A More Fair and Transparent Ecosystem

The Ministry aims to both protect consumers and pave the way for businesses that provide quality service with the new regulation. It is stated that this will usher in an era of fairer, clearer, and more reliable pricing in the sector.
