The Ministry of Trade has made significant changes to the Price Tag Regulation. With the new regulation, restaurants, cafes, eateries, and patisseries will share price information digitally, allowing consumers to access current prices from anywhere. Among the notable innovations of the new era are the requirement to make a short sale on open items and the implementation of price lists using QR codes.

* The Ministry of Trade's amendment to the Price Tag Regulation, published in the Official Gazette, directly impacts the entire food and beverage sector, particularly restaurants, cafes, and other establishments. The new regulation, published in the Official Gazette on October 11, 2025, strengthens its goal of protecting consumer rights and securing economic interests.

We have compiled the new regulation on price tags in 10 items for you:

1. Digital Price Transfer Obligation

Food and beverage businesses such as restaurants, cafes and patisseries can directly send their price lists via the electronic system. To the Ministry of Commerce will be obliged to notify.

2. Anytime, Anywhere Access

This requirement will allow citizens to easily access pricing information from businesses they consider purchasing services from, regardless of location, in a digital environment. This will increase competition and transparency.

3. Making Data Available to the Public

Price data collected from businesses will be shared with relevant institutions and organizations and made available to the public in a transparent manner.

4. QR Code Era

All businesses that offer food and beverage services should display their price lists for quick access by the consumer. QR code must also present it by method.

5. Physical List Requirement

Despite digitalization, businesses will continue to be obliged to display physical price lists if the consumer requests it.

6. Tare (Packaging Weight) Requirement

For products sold openly and weighed in the presence of the consumer, the weight of the container or packaging (tare) will be deducted.

7. Fair Trade is Getting Stronger

With the narrow price requirement, consumers will only pay for the weight of the product they purchase, preventing unfair pricing.

8. Application Principles to be Determined

All detailed procedures and principles regarding the new practices will be determined by the Ministry of Commerce and announced to the public in detail.

9. The Ministry Will Be Following

With the new system, the Ministry of Trade will regularly inspect the notification obligations of businesses, and sanctions will be imposed in case of non-compliance.

10. Goal: Honest, Transparent and Fair Market Order

With this regulation, the Ministry of Trade aims to both protect consumers and make a reliable price system permanent in the markets.
