Blending Shangri-La's famous Asian hospitality with Türkiye's rich local culture Shangri-La Bosphorus IstanbulAykut Korkmaz has been appointed as the new General Manager of . With over 30 years of international tourism and hotel management experience, Aykut Korkmaz has held senior management positions in Türkiye, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, and Europe.

A graduate of Ankara University's Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Business Administration, Korkmaz began his career at Hilton International Ankara in 1988, working in various departments from the hotel's pre-opening phase. He then served as Assistant Food and Beverage Manager during the renovation of Çırağan Palace Kempinski, Istanbul.
He later took part in the opening processes of the Hilton International Konya, Conrad International Cairo and Hilton London Tower Bridge hotels; he also held management positions at the Hyatt Regency Istanbul (Grand Hyatt), Hilton Sharm Waterfalls Resort and Hilton London Kensington hotels.

After serving as Hotel Manager at Hilton London Hyde Park and Hilton London Heathrow Airport, and as part of the opening team of Hilton Bomonti Hotel and Conference Center, Europe's largest Hilton congress hotel, he served as General Manager at Athenee Palace Hilton, Bucharest, and for the last seven years at Hilton Baku.

Having successfully managed numerous large-scale hotel openings and renovations to date, Aykut Korkmaz is an award-winning leader known for his commitment to guest and team satisfaction, consistently prioritizing team development and guest experience while achieving strong business results. His 2018 EMEA Region Hilton Leader of the Year Award stands out as one of the most significant achievements in his career.
