The Peninsula HotelsAs part of Art in Resonance, a program implemented by to support visionary artists in different hotels and destinations around the world, The Peninsula Istanbul hosted Peruvian-American artist Grimanesa Amorós's two new light installations. Amorós's specially designed "The Peninsula Istanbul"PASSAGE” and ”MARITIME” will introduce visitors to art from September 24 until the end of October.
Amorós, whose works have previously been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as The Peninsula New York, as well as the Ludwig Museum in Cologne and the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Shanghai, presents these two venue-specific works, which he designed specifically for The Peninsula Istanbul, as follows:“A Wave of Time” brings together under the title.
The first installation PASSAGE, displayed in the hotel's historic clock tower, unites the past and present. Located in the hotel's historic Passenger Terminal, built in the 1910s as a cruise port, the work draws a dynamic roadmap evoking the rhythms of human movement, serving as a visual tribute to this place where separations and reunions occur.
MARITIME The second installation, titled "The Peninsula Istanbul," is located in The Lobby, with its sculptural form reminiscent of a suspended ship. A poetic nod to The Peninsula Istanbul's location's deep maritime history, the work invites viewers to reflect on the physical, cultural, and visceral bonds forged by sea voyages.
