Samsun Culture Road Festival Filled Hotels and Restaurants
Hosting the Turkish Culture Road Festival, organized by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, for the second time this year, Samsun saw a surge of visitors. During the festival, the occupancy rate in the city's hotels and restaurants increased, and local tradesmen were pleased with the economic vitality.
Hundreds of events were organized at the Samsun Culture Road Festival, which started on June 21 and ended on June 29, from concerts to theater plays, exhibitions to gastronomy, archaeology to workshops. The events saw intense participation from the people of Samsun as well as from neighboring cities.
While occupancy rates in hotels increased during the festival, tradesmen also expressed their satisfaction with the dynamism in the city. It was emphasized that the festival, which was held in Samsun for the second time this year, made a great contribution to the city's economy.
In order to promote gastronomy values at the Samsun Culture Road Festival, famous chefs such as Merve Akkuş, İdil Açıkalın and Barbaros Yoloğlu prepared local dishes at 12 “Taste Points” determined in Samsun. Many traditional tastes that are about to be forgotten in Samsun, especially products with geographical indications, were introduced to the guests.
Leading figures from the hotel and restaurant industry in Samsun also shared their views on the festival's contribution to the city.
Venn Group General Coordinator Selin Aykaç said, “The festival had a positive impact on our city, our hotel, and all businesses operating in the tourism sector. Occupancy rates are currently one hundred percent in our hotel. There are people coming from neighboring cities and abroad. We have a wide range of customers. On behalf of our city and hotel, we would like to thank the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for this beautiful event.”
Venn Boutique Hotel-Restaurant's Kitchen Chef İsmail Kanca said, "The festival greatly influenced the local flavors to be at the forefront in Samsun. I think the festival contributed to the tourism sector and to the people coming from outside in terms of promoting Samsun."
Saray Köfte Fish Restaurant Operations Manager Enver Güler said, “In the summer months, people who know the region prefer us for such festivals. We are also working to make them happy as much as we can in terms of service. People who join social media or tours can choose this place. We can say that there has been a 25-30 percent increase in occupancy during the festival.”
Owner of Delicious Döner Aydın Usta, Aydın Fırat, said, “It was great that the Turkish Culture Road Festival was in Samsun. The occupancy rates were also very good. The festival brought serious activity. Many people came from outside Samsun. We think that such events should increase. We would like to thank our Ministry of Culture and Tourism.”
