The National Milk Council Research and Advisory Board conducted extensive field visits in Bursa and Balıkesir in order to contribute to the development of the sector and to assess the current status of the dairy industry on site. Strategic Steps Taken for the Future of the Dairy Sector

Following field visits in Balıkesir, a comprehensive sector meeting was held at the Balıkesir Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, with the participation of officials from the General Directorate of Livestock of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The meeting was opened by Prof. Dr. Nevzat Artık, Chairman of the Research and Advisory Board of the National Dairy Council . Prof. Dr. Artık drew attention to Turkey's rich variety of cheeses, emphasizing the need to integrate these traditional values ​​into the economy through branding. Prof. Dr. Hami Alpas, Vice Chairman of the Research and Advisory Board of the National Dairy Council, also addressed issues such as misinformation, food safety, food defense, and the importance of packaged products. Alpas shared solution proposals for structural problems with the participants. The Head of the Project Development and Infrastructure Department of the General Directorate of Livestock of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry provided information on the new livestock support model. Answering participants' questions, the official explained the details of the model's implementation, stating that they aim to make the support processes more effective. Climate change was also one of the important topics of the meeting. Prof. Dr. [Name], Faculty Member of the Faculty of Agriculture at Ankara University, also participated. Gürsel Dellal addressed the effects of global climate change on the livestock sector. Dellal emphasized the importance of preventative measures against potential problems in many areas, from feed production to animal health.

Hamit Can, President of the National Milk Council, who delivered the closing speech of the meeting, emphasized the importance of sustainable policies for improving milk quality. He stated that milk prices are evaluated by the National Milk Council every three months, and that cost and price studies are conducted accordingly. He also answered questions from the sector, providing detailed information on pricing policies, the raw milk supply-demand balance, and the measures taken.
