Çukurova International Airport (COV) diversifies travel opportunities from Çukurova to different parts of the world with new routes. Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), one of COV's business partners, started international flights to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, from Çukurova International Airport for the first time as of June 15.
New Air Bridge Established Between Çukurova and Baku
Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane, which made its first flight from Baku to Çukurova, landed at Çukurova International Airport on June 15.
The first flight was greeted with a ceremony. The plane from Azerbaijan was welcomed with a water cannon show on the runway. The plane was accompanied by a trio of Follow Me vehicles along the apron, ensuring that the plane approached the bridge safely.
At the ceremony, the cabin crew and officials of the aircraft were welcomed with flowers. Passengers were welcomed with local treats by stewardesses in local costumes at the bridge gate. The ribbon cutting was held with the celebration cake.
With the newly launched flights, it is expected to contribute to the tourism and trade potential of the Çukurova region and to provide the local people with easier and more comfortable transportation to Azerbaijan.
Direct flights to England (London), Macedonia (Skopje) and Montenegro (Podgorica) have started from Çukurova International Airport (COV) as of the summer season. In the coming days, flights to Amsterdam from Çukurova International Airport will start on June 29, and flights to Tirana, Albania will start on June 30.
