“We Continue to Contribute to a Sustainable Future with the I-Rec Certificate”
Güray Real Estate Development Construction Inc. Board Chairman Gürel Aydın “Within the scope of our work carried out in line with the sustainability and environmentally friendly tourism approach, we have taken another important step. We are proud to be entitled to receive the International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) through CK Energy. With this certificate, it has been documented that all of the electrical energy consumed in our hotel is provided by renewable energy sources. The I-REC certificate, which is also a strong indicator of our determination to reduce our carbon footprint, is a reflection of our environmental responsibility. Sustainability is not only a goal for us, but also a fundamental principle that guides all of our activities. With the I-REC certificate, we not only offer our guests a comfortable and enjoyable accommodation experience, but also an accommodation opportunity that respects nature by exhibiting an environmentally sensitive approach. In line with our mission to leave a more livable world for future generations, we will continue our work in this field by developing our sustainable tourism approach every passing day. The I-REC certificate, obtained in cooperation with CK Energy, not only documents environmentally friendly energy consumption, but is also part of our goal to be an example in the field of sustainability in the tourism sector. “We would like to thank our General Manager Özdoğan Karagedik, all our colleagues who contributed to this process, and CK Enerji who guided us.”
What is a Renewable Energy Certificate?
I-REC (Renewable Energy Certificate), which has become increasingly widespread in recent years, is an international certification system developed by RECs International that documents that electricity is produced from renewable energy sources. In this system, which is provided and monitored by the IREC Foundation, an independent international organization, a certificate is created for every 1 MWh of electricity produced in renewable energy facilities (solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal and biomass). Authorized energy companies also support their customers who request this certificate to meet their electricity needs from renewable energy sources.
Companies with the Certificate Gain Various Advantages
Thanks to this system, which allows each unit of electricity produced to be tracked from its source to the end consumer, consumers can make a conscious and reliable choice. At the same time, since green energy use is a positive step towards reducing carbon emissions, it stands out as a factor that positively affects consumer behavior for facilities that use green energy. Companies in developing countries, especially in the European Union, require facilities that produce the products they purchase to obtain a renewable energy certificate, while also providing various advantages in return.
