Coral Travel Starway World Best Hotels 2024 Award Ceremony, took place in Berlin on March 4th. At the ceremony Awards were given to hotels from all over the world that were ranked based on customer satisfaction surveys in three categories. In the Top 100 World Best Hotels category, the world's best hotels with the highest scores in all criteria were awarded, while "Child and Family Friendly Hotels" with the best activities for children and families and "Environmentally Friendly Hotels" that make a great effort to protect nature with their physical areas and environmentally friendly practices received awards.
23 Countries, 38 Companies, 6.000 Employees
Coral Travel Starway World Best Hotels 2024 Award Ceremony began with the speech of Koray Çavdır, Vice President of Coral Travel Group responsible for the Central Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) region.
In the first part of his speech, Çavdır provided general information about Coral Travel Group. Çavdır said that Coral Travel Group, which operates in 23 countries with 38 companies and 6.000 employees in the tour operating, destination management, bed banking, accommodation, technology and security sectors, serves approximately 3,5 million tourists per year, and that the number of tourists served has reached 33 million in the 35 years since the Group was founded.
Serving Approximately 2024 Million Tourists in 3,5
Serving in 15 countries in the field of tour operation with Coral Travel and its second brand in Germany, Ferien Touristik, the Group served approximately 2024 million tourists in 3,5. Serving a total of 2023 million tourists in 2,72, the Group managed to increase the number of tourists by 26,4%.
25% Growth in Europe
Of this figure, 2 million came from the 10 source markets where the Group operates in Europe. The Group's European tour operator activities, which started in Poland, continued with Germany, Austria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Romania opening in 2023. With the start of organized holiday sales in the Netherlands, a total of 10 countries in Europe were reached. Serving 2023 million European tourists in 1,6, Coral Travel achieved 25% growth in the European market.
2025 Targets
Coral Travel Group aims to increase the number of tourists served to over 2025 million and reach 4 million tourists in European markets in 2,3.
The Group's capacity planning for 2025 is as follows:
- Türkiye: 1,9 million
- Egypt: 850 thousand
- Greece. 200 thousand
- United Arab Emirates: 200 thousand
- Spain: 200 thousand
- Tunisia: 80 thousand
- Thailand: 70 thousand
Continuing its operations in 40 destinations in 90 countries, the Group aims to increase the number of tourists it serves by 19%.
In the second part of his speech, Çavdır explained the developments in the DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and Netherlands regions under his responsibility, and emphasized that the structuring in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, by benefiting from the know-how and power of the group with the Coral Travel/Ferien Touristik brands, has been completed in a way that will meet all kinds of holiday demands by gaining professionally trained human resources, and that the target of reaching 1 million tourists and 1 billion Euros of turnover in the medium term will be reached by the end of this year, one year earlier than planned.
At the ceremony, Coral Travel Group Chairman Ayhan Bektaş also gave a speech. Bektaş said, “While we adapt to changing conditions with innovative products and services, we continue to grow by adhering to the principle of sustainable tourism, which is one of the most important principles of our Group,” and emphasized the importance they give to digital transformation, human resources and quality as a Group.
World Tourism Organization Ambassador Dr. Michael Frenzel and World Travel and Tourism Council President and CEO Julia Simpson also gave speeches at the ceremony.
Awards Given in Three Categories
Following the speeches, the “Coral Travel Starway World Best Hotels 2024” award ceremony took place. During the ceremony, awards were given in three categories to hotels from all over the world that were ranked based on customer satisfaction surveys collected from 1 hotels in 31 destinations between January 2024 and December 25, 6321. As a result of these surveys, where Coral Travel customers evaluated the staff, room and hotel conditions, food and beverages, environmental awareness, garden and pool conditions, cleanliness, children's areas, entertainment and sports activities in the hotels, the rankings were determined regardless of the number of stars the hotels had.
Top 100 World Best Hotels
The top three hotels in the Top 100 World Best Hotels category came from Türkiye. Maxx Royal Kemer Resort won first place. Blue Waters Club won second place, and NG Phaselis Bay came third.
Of the top 100 facilities, 58 were from Türkiye, 14 from Egypt, 9 from Greece, 7 from Spain, 5 from the United Arab Emirates, 3 from Thailand, 2 from Tunisia, 1 from Montenegro and 1 from the Maldives.
Child and Family Friendly Hotels
Blue Waters Club took first place in the “Child and Family Friendly Hotels” category with the best activities for children and families. Delphin Be Grand Resort came in second and Royal Wings Hotel came in third.
Eco-Friendly Hotels
Maxx Royal Kemer Resort came first in the Eco-Friendly Hotels category, which rewards hotels that make great efforts to protect nature with their physical spaces and environmentally friendly practices. Rixos Premium Tekirova came second, and Liberty Hotels Lykia came third.
25 hotels each received awards in the Child and Family Friendly Hotels and Environmentally Friendly Hotels categories.
