Turkish Packaging Industry Held 238 Bilateral Business Meetings in Qatar

The “Qatar Packaging Sectoral Trade Delegation” was organized by the Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Association (İKMİB) in Doha, Qatar, for the packaging sector. A total of 56 bilateral business meetings were held within the scope of the delegation with the participation of 238 Turkish and foreign companies.

The Qatar Packaging Sectoral Trade Mission, organized by İKMİB in Doha, Qatar between February 16-19, 2025, for the packaging sector, was successfully completed. 10 companies from the Turkish packaging products sector participated in the Sectoral Trade Mission organized to Qatar to expand business opportunities in the packaging sector and establish new commercial connections.

Turkish Ambassador to Doha Dr. M. Mustafa Goksu, TC Doha Trade Counselors Muhammet Fatih Cetinkaya ve Sinem Having Fun visited the companies and gave information about the market. Also, the President of Qatar Chamber of Commerce Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani He also visited the bilateral business meetings and conveyed his good wishes to the participants.

238 Bilateral Business Meetings Held

During the trade delegation held in Doha, important contacts were made to establish new collaborations and increase exports. During the event, various packaging products were presented to buyers by Turkish companies.

Within the scope of the three-day delegation, a retail tour was conducted as a Qatar market research and bilateral business meetings were held. 10 bilateral business meetings were held in the event held with the participation of 15 representatives from 46 companies from Turkey and 238 foreign companies.

Adil Pelister: “Plastic Packaging Exports Worth 9,5 Million Dollars to Qatar”

Adil Pelister, Chairman of the Board of Directors of İKMİB, stating that the plastic packaging sector is increasing in exports every year, “While plastic packaging exports in 2023 were 3,5 billion dollars, plastic packaging exports increased by 2024 percent in 4,6 and rose to 3,7 billion dollars. The top five countries to which plastic packaging exports were made in 2024 were England, Germany, USA, Italy and Iraq. Exports to Qatar increased by 9.5 percent with 8,42 million dollars. We believe that the sectoral trade delegation organized to Qatar will contribute to our sector's establishment of new business connections and increase in exports. The plastic sector ranks first among our 16 sub-sectors in terms of exports. Plastic packaging exports also have an important share in the plastic sector. The plastic packaging sector is an important building block of the Turkish economy not only with its export figures but also with the added value and employment it provides. As İKMİB, we will continue to support our sector for the continuation of sustainable export growth. We aim to represent our sector strongly in international fairs and events in 2025. "These events will enable our companies to develop new collaborations on a global scale. In this context, we plan to hold our second packaging sector trade delegation to Spain-Portugal on May 5-10, 2025," he said.

HORECA TREND Takes the Pulse of the Industry at Hostech by TUSID Fair

Hostech by TUSID, Türkiye's largest and Europe's second largest hotel, restaurant, gastronomy and kitchen equipment fair, will be held between 27-31 May 2025. TUYAP Fair and Congress CenterBrought together industry professionals at. While technologies and solutions that will shape the future of the sector were exhibited at the five-day fair, the HORECA TREND stand was also the center of attention of local and foreign visitors.

One-on-one interviews on the effects of digital publishing on the sector and new media solutions received positive feedback from sector representatives. The digital media opportunities offered by the fair also paved the way for new collaboration opportunities for sectoral brands.

Foundations of New Collaborations Laid

The meetings held during the fair further reinforced HORECA TREND’s position in the sector. Contacts with participants helped strengthen existing relationships and lay the foundations for new projects.

Making evaluations after the Hostech by TUSID Fair, Elif Akın Yüksel emphasized that the contacts established during the fair will further increase HORECA TREND's contribution to the sector: "This fair allowed us to both share our publishing vision and witness the needs of the sector more closely. Nestlé Türkiye Meets with Future Leaders in Karacabey with its Youth Initiative
