“We became the first brand to define the barista profession in İşkur”
Sertaç Yalçın, CEO of Arabica Coffee House , emphasized the importance they place on barista training: “Coffee is not just a beverage, it's also a culture, and baristas are the professionals who best present this culture. As Arabica, we continue to invest in the development of our baristas. With the training we provide, we aim to bring more qualified baristas to the sector and represent them more in the national and international arena. The development of our baristas will greatly contribute not only to our brand but to the entire coffee industry. As Arabica Coffee House, we have undertaken many important projects over the past 10 years. Before us, the profession of barista was not defined as a profession code in the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR). We became the first brand to define the barista profession in İŞKUR by collaborating with the Ministry of National Education. We opened barista classes, especially in girls' vocational high schools, by promoting positive discrimination and aimed to increase female employment. In this context, we pioneered the participation of women in this profession by opening the first barista class at Kalaba Girls' Vocational High School.” He used the following expressions.
