One of the important players in cruise tourism Galataport Istanbul, said hello to 2025 with exciting developments. In addition to the increase in the number of ships and passengers using Galataport Istanbul as the main port for starting and finishing flights, the acceleration in the total number of passengers visiting the port throughout the year is also remarkable. While the number of passengers using Galataport as the main port was 2024 in 96.000, it will reach 2025 in 134 with a 225.000% increase. In addition, Galataport Istanbul, which closed 2024 with 164 ships and 400.000 passengers, will host 2025 ships and 37 passengers in 46, increasing the number of flights by 225% and the number of passengers by 585.000%. Galataport Istanbul, which has changed the seasonal calendar and started winter cruise tourism for the first time in Istanbul by opening the doors of its port to the MSC Sinfonia ship every Wednesday until April 2025, will spend the year with high efficiency.

Since cruise passengers take the time to explore Istanbul before starting their trips or after finishing their vacations, the contribution of a home port cruise passenger to the country’s tourism is approximately 6 times that of a standard tourist. Designed and planned with this vision, Galataport Istanbul’s “temporary customs area” concept, registered by the Eurasian Patent Organization, the European Patent Office and the American Patent Office, not only inspires different port cities but also makes Istanbul more attractive for cruise companies and passengers. Offering innovative solutions with its “Special Hydraulic System Cover” and “Underground Cruise Terminal” systems, Galataport Istanbul continues its urban transportation and transfer activities in an integrated manner with daily life. The fact that the port also hosts the city’s main food and beverage, shopping and experience points greatly facilitates the lives of passengers and crew.

Positioning as the main port in cruise tourism requires the logistics facilities of the city and country to comply with global standards. Turkish Airlines, which flies to more countries than any other airline in the world, and IGA Istanbul Airport, which has become a regional "hub" (a transportation center), contribute greatly to Galataport completing its trivet in cruise tourism.

Special restaurants and cultural and artistic activities that include local and world flavors also add privilege to the port. Interactive events and cultural and artistic activities for all age groups, spread throughout the year, more than meet the authentic experience expectations of citizens of all nations. Galataport Istanbul, which offers people a multifaceted experience beyond sea travel with its neighborhood concept where many different disciplines from fashion to gastronomy come together, and its unique features such as integration and temporary customs area system, will continue to support the country's economy in 2025.
