The Orhangazi Street Animals Rehabilitation Center, which will be established by the Orhangazi Municipality to solve the shelter, feeding and care problems of street animals, is being implemented in cooperation with TİDER (Basic Needs Association) and Cargill. The center, whose construction will begin after the groundbreaking ceremony held on November 20, is planned to be operational in the first half of 2025.

This collaboration is a demonstration of the collective determination of Orhangazi Municipality, TİDER and Cargill to restore the emotional, social, physical and psychological state of animals and support local communities.

Responding to a critical social need, the Orhangazi Stray Animals Rehabilitation Center will promote the best practices in animal care, reduce the number of stray animals through humane programs, and raise public awareness. The facility will function as a community center where stray animals are fed, treated, and adopted with compassion and care.

The new center, which will be established in the Arapzade Neighborhood of Bursa's Orhangazi district on an area of 36.066 square meters, will manage the protection, survival and rehabilitation processes of animals according to international standards. The center will include temporary shelters, neutering and sterilization operation units for cats and dogs, treatment units for injured or sick animals, a pharmaceutical warehouse, a food cold storage, an administration building, personnel facilities and security units.

“Supporting the communities where our factories are located is a priority for Cargill,” said Murat Tarakçıoğlu, Chairman and CEO of Gıda META (Middle East, Turkey and Africa), “Following the successful establishment of the Cargill Primary School, Cargill 112 Emergency Center and Cargill Health Center in Orhangazi, we are delighted to contribute to the welfare of stray animals with this new rehabilitation center.”

Drawing attention to the fact that the problems of sheltering, feeding and caring for stray animals concern all segments of society, TİDER President Hande Tibuk stated that joint work between municipalities, the private sector and non-governmental organizations on the issue of stray animals could help solve the problem.

Tibuk said: “No result is achieved by collecting animals from the streets. In order for municipalities to manage the issue healthily, it is very important for NGOs and volunteers to be included in the process. When every municipality cooperates with a civil society organization that is sensitive to the lives of animals, it can benefit from the power of the volunteers of that NGO. TİDER’s aim is to help those in need to meet their basic living requirements. In addition to our citizens, who are our priority, we also care about the basic needs of our animal friends and produce projects in this area. We believe that we will set an example for other institutions in our country with this project that we have implemented together with Orhangazi Municipality and Cargill.”
