Michelin will announce the MICHELIN Guide Istanbul, Izmir and Muğla 2025 selection at a ceremony to be held at the Four Seasons Hotel Bosphorus in Istanbul on Thursday, December 5, 2024.

The ceremony, which will be broadcast live on the MICHELIN Guide YouTube channel, will provide the opportunity to discover the restaurants that will be newly added to the selection and will be included in the most coveted MICHELIN Stars, Green Stars and Bib Gourmand categories. A number of special awards that highlight the outstanding performance of industry professionals will also be presented during the event.

“This year, MICHELIN Guide Inspectors traveled to Istanbul, Izmir and Bodrum to select the best restaurants,” said Gwendal Poullennec, MICHELIN Guide International Director. “As we continue to explore new areas, we were thrilled to visit additional areas of Muğla beyond Bodrum and find hidden culinary treasures. We can’t wait to officially unveil our full selection and once again highlight to local gourmets and international travelers that Turkey is a true paradise for foodies.”

Chefs of all restaurants that will be included in the MICHELIN Guide Istanbul, Izmir and Muğla 2025 selection will be invited to the ceremony.

The new selection of the MICHELIN Guide will be published on the MICHELIN Guide website and in the MICHELIN Guide app immediately after the event. This press release is not an invitation, and all event invitations and program details will be shared with participants in the coming days.

Methodology of the MICHELIN Guide 

The MICHELIN Guide was created by the Michelin tire company in 1900 to support the growth of mobility and has remained true to its original mission ever since: to discover gastronomic destinations, guide international travelers and gourmets to the best restaurants, highlight the world's culinary scenes and promote the culture of travel.

Restaurant selections for the MICHELIN Guide Istanbul, Izmir and Muğla are made by Michelin Inspectors who remain loyal to the Guide's historical and global methodology and are also confidential, independent of any collaboration.

Inspectors evaluate only the quality of the cuisine offered by restaurants, based on the Guide's 5 international criteria:

  • The quality of the products,
  • Mastery of cooking techniques,
  • Harmony of flavors,
  • The chef's personality is reflected in the dining experience,
  • Consistency both between visits and across the menu.

The MICHELIN Guide aims to bring together the best local restaurants discovered by inspectors, highlighting the most special ones through a comprehensive rating system.

The most coveted distinction is the world-renowned MICHELIN Stars, awarded to restaurants that offer the most exceptional culinary experience. Alongside the popular Star ratings, the selection also includes the popular Bib Gourmand category, awarded to restaurants that offer good quality food at affordable prices, and the MICHELIN Green Star, awarded to role model restaurants that are committed to a fully sustainable approach to gastronomy.

Metro Türkiye Prevents 11.5 Tons of Food from Going to Waste

We have prepared guides to guide the food and beverage sector, and created platforms where we share all the steps to be taken regarding sustainability.
