BİTKİDEN ( Plant-Based Foods Association) has started its activities by bringing together stakeholders who contribute to a plant-based nutrition system for a more sustainable world.

Aiming to develop projects in cooperation with international stakeholders, BİTKİDEN aims to bring plant-based foods to the focus of transformation in the food system with a sustainable and scientific approach.

Established in December 2022, BİTKİDEN ( Plant-Based Foods Association) aims to increase demand and production of plant-based foods. With the goal of playing a pioneering role in this field in Turkey, it seeks to place plant-based foods at the center of food system transformation through a sustainable and scientific approach. Emphasizing the importance of plant-based foods for sustainability, BİTKİDEN aims to unlock Turkey's plant-based food potential.

“The future will be from PLANT.”

Ebru Akdağ, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BİTKİDEN Association, stated that the vision of the association is to be a pioneer and leading association for all stakeholders in this field, focusing on sustainable nutrition in order to benefit people and our planet. Akdağ said, “We aim to lead the transformation towards plant-based foods by gathering all stakeholders who contribute to a sustainable plant-based nutrition system under our roof, to create interest and awareness among consumers, to direct relevant policies, and to encourage the stakeholders under our roof to conduct scientific research and innovation on plant-based foods.” " he said and added: "All trends in the food field show that the future is in plant-based foods. It is very important that our country, which is an important player in the production of plant-based foods, not only benefits from this wind, but also directs it."

“We are setting out together with international stakeholders for a visionary formation.”

Stating that BİTKİDEN will play a leading role in contributing to the regulatory preparations regarding the sustainability of plant-based foods and raising awareness among consumers, Ebru Akdağ said, “In order to create a more visionary formation on issues concerning public health and the environment; As a member of the International Plant-Based Working Group (IPBFWG) and the European Union Association for Plant-Based Foods (EAPF), we begin our journey with a global knowledge base. Our goal; "To put plant-based foods at the center of food system transformation with a sustainable and scientific approach," he said.

“Our compass will be science.”

Stating that we are going through a new period in which plant-based foods are being defined globally, Akdağ said, “We are preparing to establish a multifaceted scientific board by bringing together experts from different disciplines in order to explain the importance of plant-based foods and increase their reliability. We aim to cooperate with financial institutions for sustainability and guide start-up initiatives. "Honest competition, science-based impartiality, joint action towards goals, service for the benefit of society and the search for innovative and effective solutions constitute the basic principles of our association," he said.
