They Demanded 23 Thousand TL for "Nationality Difference" for the Same Hotel, Same Room
Ekol TV reporters Ezgi İlgi and Mahmut Keşan attempted to make separate reservations for the same room at the same hotel, posing as both domestic and foreign tourists. The reservations were for two people in one room, including all amenities, for the dates of June 5-10.
The test carried out live by Ekol TV reporters revealed the striking difference in hotel prices applied to local and foreign tourists.
Ekol TV reporters Ezgi Interest and Mahmut Keşan tried to make separate reservations for the same room in the same hotel as local and foreign tourists. Between 5-10 June, 2 TL was requested for Turkish tourists for 1 people, 141.500 room, all-inclusive accommodation. The fee requested for a British tourist from the same hotel, between the same dates and under the same conditions, was 119.000 TL.

As a result, it was determined that the price offered to domestic tourists differed by 23 thousand TL compared to the price offered to foreign tourists.
This situation revealed the unfair pricing practices faced by tourists due to different tariffs of hotels.
Extra Fee Was Previously Charged Under the Name of "Nationality Difference"
In the past weeks, a hotel in Antalya charged Turkish customers too much under the name of 'nationality difference', and the issue created controversy in the Turkish public. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced that it had launched an investigation into the incident.
