Richard Shipley and Feyza Altındağ Shipley brought the fully equipped and high-tech "Gastronomy Academy" to the university as a result of their large donations to the faculty.
Ege University Çeşme Tourism Faculty is undertaking a major structural transformation with the donations it has received in the last two years. The Shipley-Altındağ family, who brought the Gastronomy Academy, which was opened last year, to the faculty, pioneered the construction of a private student dormitory with a capacity of 1 people, with their donations of 400 million 108 thousand dollars.
The private student dormitory, designed by Murat Yetkin Altındağ from the Bagisci Altındağ family and consisting of two-storey buildings facing each other, will also be a solution to the accommodation problems of faculty students.
Stating that significant investments have been made in Çeşme Tourism Faculty in recent years, Ege University Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Budak said, “As a fully accredited, student-oriented research university, we continue our work with both the support of our state and donations to ensure that our students receive education in a more peaceful environment. In this context, I would like to thank Richard Shipley and Feyza Altındağ Shipley, who helped build the student dormitory with a record donation. With the recent donations, Çeşme Tourism Faculty has taken action. The completion of our student dormitory will increase the motivation of our students and contribute to the preferability of our faculty. We are very happy to be on a campus where our students feel safe. "This important donation has helped strengthen this situation," he said.
“Our Faculty is the Rising Star of the Region”
Çeşme Tourism Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Bilgehan Gültekin noted that they have brought approximately 2 million 300 thousand dollars in donations to the faculty in the last two years and that Çeşme Tourism Faculty has become the rising star of the region with the investments made. Prof. Dr. Gültekin said, “Housing is one of the main problems our students experience in Çeşme. Our Rector Prof. Dr. As a result of the student-oriented studies carried out under the leadership of Necdet Budak, a peaceful and peaceful campus environment was created at Ege University. With the completion of our dormitory building, which is currently under construction on the faculty campus, we will be instrumental in solving a very important problem. "We would like to thank Richard Shipley and Feyza Altındağ Shipley and the 'Bridge to Turkey' organization, who previously made a large donation to our faculty by building the Gastronomy Academy," he said.
Providing information about the student dormitory to be built, Prof. Dr. Gültekin said, “Ege University Çeşme Tourism Faculty Shipley-Altındağ Private Student Dormitory, which is planned to be completed in September, aims to serve in the 2024-2025 academic year. There are two buildings, male and female dormitories, on a total area of 500 square meters. All rooms of the dormitory, which will serve 27 students with a total of 54 rooms, 108 rooms in each building, are designed for two people. "The dormitory buildings, which will be built entirely through grants, will be operated by Çeşme Tourism Faculty, and free accommodation will be provided to at least 5 students with inadequate economic status, determined by the management every year," he said.
