Marriott International CEO Underlined Growth Plans in the Country During His Visit to Türkiye

For Marriott International , which has a strong history of successful operations in Turkey spanning over 40 years, the Turkish market remains a key part of the company's growth strategy in Europe. Today, with a portfolio of over 50 properties and more than 8,000 rooms across seven cities and under 20 different brands, the company has nearly doubled its presence in the Turkish market in the last five years.
Capuano said, “Turkey is a sought-after destination with its rich cultural heritage, natural beauties, diverse travel experiences and authentic hospitality. “As Marriott International, we are proud to have the opportunity to contribute to the growth and diversification of Turkey's tourism sector through our long-term presence in the market and strong growth plans.”
During his visit to Türkiye, Capuano met with hotel owners and investors to discuss Marriott's growth plans in Turkey. Capuano also visited hotel teams and emphasized the company's sensitivity to the development of its employees and the importance of creating an inclusive and diverse leadership team in Turkey. Plans also include launching a special program aimed at the market by collaborating with a hotel management school that will offer students the opportunity to study at Marriott hotels in Turkey, gain work experience and earn a diploma.
In line with its culture of inclusion, Marriott last year launched the Women's Leadership Initiative, specifically designed to prepare high-potential female leaders for the next step of their careers.
Portfolio Expansion Plans until 2025
Within the scope of Marriott's growth plans in Turkey, it is anticipated that more than 2025 new hotels will be opened in all segments, including luxury, premium, focused service and economy, by the end of 20.
In September 2023, Marriott launched the Four Points Express by Sheraton brand amid growing demand for reliable and affordable accommodation in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Four Points Express by Sheraton Bursa, the first hotel of this brand in the world, was recently opened. Türkiye is an important market for the growth of the Four Points Express by Sheraton brand, and this year; Four more hotels are planned to open in Ankara, Antalya and Istanbul, including the Four Points Express by Sheraton Istanbul Taksim Square.
Moxy Hotels, one of the company's brands in the focused service segment, is expected to enter Turkey with projects in Istanbul and Izmir. The AC by Marriott portfolio is planned to expand with new hotels in Istanbul and Izmir, and the Aloft Hotels and Residence Inn by Marriott portfolios are planned to expand with hotels to be opened next year.
In the premium segment, the company plans to open its first hotels in Cappadocia and Uşak, with the opening of Cappadocia Marriott Hotel and Sheraton Hotel & Thermal Spa Uşak. Expansion plans also include the Marriott Executive Apartments brand.
Following the recently opened Sanasaryan Han, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Istanbul, the company plans to strengthen its position in the luxury segment with the addition of Legacy Ottoman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Istanbul in 2025.
Türkiye currently hosts 20 Marriott Bonvoy brands, each offering different experiences in different segments. The brands currently operating in Turkey are as follows: St. Louis in the luxury segment. Regis Hotels & Resorts, The Ritz-Carlton, The Luxury Collection, EDITION and JW Marriott; Marriott Hotels, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels, Le Méridien, Westin Hotels, Tribute Portfolio, Autograph Collection, Delta Hotels by Marriott, Marriott Executive Apartments and Design Hotels in the premium segment; Four Points by Sheraton, Aloft Hotels, Residence Inn by Marriott and AC Hotels by Marriott in the focused service segment; and Four Points Express by Sheraton in the economy segment.
