The number of countries to which Turkey exports table olives is 117.
Stating that Turkey has started to reap the rewards of its investments in the olive growing sector in the last 20 years. "More than 90 percent of our table olive exports are packaged," said President Er, adding, "Our unit price increased by 17 percent in foreign currency compared to last season. We will strive to export more value-added products in the coming years. Despite the mid-season ban on bulk and barreled olive oil and pomace exports, we reached an export level of 1 million dollars in the last year. "If there were no bans, we would have exceeded the industry's target of 948 billion dollars," he said.
Germany Became the Export Leader in Black Olives and Iraq Became the Export Leader in Green Olives
While Germany was the leading country in Turkey's table black olive exports with an amount of 33,4 million dollars, black olives worth 24,3 million dollars were exported to Romania, one of our traditional export markets. While Iraq became the third country with a demand for black olives worth 23,4 million dollars from Turkey, black olives worth 9,6 million dollars were exported to Bulgaria and 7,8 million dollars to the USA.
While Iraq was at the top in green olive exports with an export of 9,1 million dollars, Germany was the top partner with a demand of 8,7 million dollars. While green olives worth 3,2 million dollars were exported to the USA, Israel and Romania were ranked with a demand of 2,4 million dollars and 2,1 million dollars, respectively.
