Baylan , the oldest patisserie in Istanbul, which is as old as the Republic and introduced many firsts to Turkish society such as the first New Year's window display, the first New Year's gift box, the first espresso, and the first Valentine's Day celebration , is celebrating its second annual Kup Griye Day this year with the slogan "Let no one be left without knowing, tasting, and experiencing Kup Griye." On Friday, June 2nd, between 13.00 PM and 18.00 PM, Kup Griye will be offered to those visiting the Kadıköy, Bebek, and Galataport branches. This special day, which sees new Baylan regulars joining the ranks, combines flavor and fun.
Harry Lenas, founder of BaylanKup Griye's history dates back to 1954, as it resembles a cup with feet and the honey almond inside is called griye. Kup Griye, which is Baylan's invention and is sold today as "Coupe Baylan" in some European patisseries, is completely handmade, prepared with honey almonds, caramel sauce, whipped cream, vanilla and caramel ice cream, and served with gray pistachios and ladyfingers. Kup Griye has been offered to Baylan guests for half a century, without changing its recipe and always prepared fresh.
